UPDATE ON BEHALF OF MY SISTER IN LAW

Last Thursday, Micah was rushed to the ER because of delirium. I got a text from her best friend that day around noon regarding her condition. She was confused, asking everyone over and over again what is colon cancer, why did she get married and why did she start the go fund me account. I knew she had an infection somewhere the moment I received the text message. To be honest, I got so nervous because one of the doctors before told us that an infection ( perforation of her bowels from the tumour ) might cause her death. She was so confused that at one point she didn't recognize her family and friends. She  thought we were all strangers. She also had a seizure for 60 seconds. Her abdomen was distended, the lower part of her incision site was bleeding and when the doctor palpated it, purulent discharge was oozing out. We were told the CT scan ( abdomen) revealed that her cancer is worse. Thankfully the CT scan ( head)  result was negative.


Hallelujah! The cancer did not metastasize to her brain! What a relief to all of us. But the doctor told us because of what's happening in her abdomen ( the infection, mild ascites, poor blood supply to stomach ) she only has hours left to live. We know this would happen and have accepted it a long time ago but when that moment came, it hurts like hell. We cannot stop our tears from falling. I thought to myself " this is it, I'm going to lose my one and only sibling-in-law. I can see pain in my husband, in laws, Vanessa, Shawdy and Peter's eyes. A pain I knew so well, a pain so indescribable and raw. But I know Micah has always defied time frames. She's always been a fighter and I know she will get through this. And she did. God has been ever so generous to us because Micah is still with us. Her faith remains so strong, I always wonder how in the world a small lady like Micah can have such big faith and a mountain of strength? The following two days have been challenging for us. She was admitted back on the 10th floor. She was confused and severely dehydrated! She kept asking " oh my god, is this real? I'm alive? I'm not dying" repeatedly. She kept writing "Alzheimer's " too. She was not able to sleep at all. Her eyes got puffy because of crying. She cried a lot, in between she would say "I feel good" but deep down we saw sadness, frustration and other mixed emotions. She eventually became  agitated and started to pull her IV out. It really  is hard to see her like that. It felt like our Micah was gone. Today, is a different story though. She is back, although she can't remember what happened, she is finally lucid. We thank everyone who prayed, supported and encouraged her. We believe that scalgaryhe remains with us to continuously live her purpose- to inspire others to be brave and to be faithful. She is amazing in so many ways, because Jesus is in her midst, and she over flows with love.
